Introduction to study at the WIMM

The Institute provides a vibrant and diverse environment in which to study, be it at a postgraduate or undergraduate level. We are also keen to encourage and support work experience for those who might be thinking of a future in science.
Useful information is provided in the sections below.

Postgraduate study - The Institute hosts approximately 140 PhD (DPhil) students. Details about how to apply for a graduate place at Oxford can be found here. The following links provide other useful information on the current schemes available to those wishing to study in the WIMM
Summer Studentships – Schemes are generally advertised in December for placements the following summer. The following links detail some of the schemes which can be held in the Institute Alternatively if you have a particular area you wish to work in you can contact the PI(s) directly. Otherwise please send your CV and a brief letter stating your interests to Liz Cloke, WIMM Student Co-ordinator.

Work Experience - These activities are usually arranged directly with the research group concerned. It is however important to note that children under 16 are prohibited from entering containment laboratories except when part of an organised educational activity (eg. work experience placement or school visit).
