The Wolfson Imaging Centre is a managed open-access light microscopy core facility, containing a wide range of state-of-the-art wide-field, confocal and super-resolution light microscopes suitable for imaging specimens from single cells to intact tissues and whole specimens.
For general enquiries contact microscopy@imm.ox.ac.uk
The Wolfson Imaging Centre houses a variety of state-of-the art widefield, confocal and super-resolution microscopes, accessible to both internal and external users as well as industrial partners. Uniquely, the Facility houses the only commercial STED microscope open to users at the University of Oxford, offering advanced, super-resolution imaging solutions for cutting-edge research projects. Facility staff can provide training to allow independent use of the equipment and are also available for advice regarding experiment design, data acquisition and analysis. We actively collaborate and share resources with the Micron Imaging Facility in the Department of Biochemistry and the Sir William Dunn School for Pathology Bioimaging Facility. The Facility staff further interact regularly with similar facilities in the Department of Oncology, the Kennedy Institute, the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics and more. | This Facility is proud to have achieved a LEAF Gold Award for 2024. |

Instrument Booking
Facility users can book instruments and workstations that they have been trained on using Agendo.
Please email microscopy@imm.ox.ac.uk stating your name and your PI/supervisor (grant holder) to request an Agendo account for instrument booking if you do not have one yet.
Oxford Bioimaging Network
The Wolfson Imaging Centre is part of the Oxford Bioimaging Network, a group of Light Microscopy Facilities across Oxford. The facility managers of the Bioimaging network regularly meet to discuss common problems and exchange ideas and techniques. The Network also jointly organizes a variety of Microscopy and Image analysis online courses as well as advanced imaging techniques online courses and demonstrations.
Oxford Microscopy Courses & Lectures
The Oxford Light Microscopy Facilities regularly present a variety of Microscopy and Image analysis online courses as well as advanced imaging techniques online courses and demonstrations.
Funding
The Wolfson Imaging Centre was established in 2012 with funding from the Wolfson Foundation.
