Working at the MRC WIMM
We offer a range of family friendly policies and practices. These include several family leave options (including maternity, paternity and adoption leave, shared parental leave, fertility treatment leave and unpaid parental leave), children vouchers and nursery fee salary sacrifice schemes. Staff also have access to University nurseries and to holiday play schemes.
Training and development
There are extensive training opportunities available for staff, from personal development courses to technical and specialist training. Our staff also have access to the University Careers Service, which can provide advice and training on career progression.
Academic staff also benefit from support in applying for independent funding, as well as various opportunities to showcase their science progress to the wider academic community and the public.
Oxford is vibrant academic environment, and there are hundreds of talks, seminars and events every week open to staff. The University Language Centre offers discounted rates to University staff and the Department of Continuing Education provides a wide range of courses.
Support and mentoring
We aim to provide a supportive and respectful working environment for all of our staff, and our constituent departments are active participants of the Athena SWAN Scheme. We also have a dedicated Diversity and Inclusion committee as well as Harassment advisors at the Institute.
WIMM staff are eligible to participate in the Radcliffe Department of Medicine Mentoring Scheme, where staff are matched with a mentor that provides support and advice during their time at Oxford.
