MRC WIMM Facilities
The MRC WIMM houses a variety of state-of-the-art research facilities that provide services for both internal and external users:
Therapy Acceleration Laboratory | Flow Cytometry | Advanced Single Cell OMICS | Wolfson Imaging Centre |
Genome Engineering & Transgenics | CCB: High-Performance Computing | Sequencing & HLA Typing | Mass Cytometry |
See below for more information about our facilities:
Please note the full cost of using these facilities (including capital depreciation) is payable by the user/department regardless of research funder.
Therapy Acceleration Lab (TAL)
The TAL analyses human samples from national and international Phase I to Phase III trials of novel targeted therapies that maximise patient impact, transform understanding of disease biology and dissect mechanisms of action of therapies and mechanisms of response.

Advanced Single Cell OMICS
The facility offers multiomics solutions in the fields of single cell transcriptomics, genomics and epigenetics, as well as broader services. This includes spatial transcriptomics and high-sensitivity plate-based solutions. We have a wide range of cutting-edge and up-to-date platforms to support projects with different end goals.

CCB: High-Performance Computing
The CCB HPC Facility provides the MRC WIMM with a high-performance computing platform called JADE, offering researchers efficient ways to store, analyse, collaborate, and publish large data sets. Expert staff are present to install sophisticated bioinformatic software packages and provide support and advice.

Wolfson Imaging Centre
This is a managed open-access light microscopy facility, containing a range of state-of-the-art wide-field, confocal and super-resolution light microscopes suitable for imaging samples from single cells to intact tissues and whole specimens.
For general enquiries contact: microscopy@imm.ox.ac.uk
Sequencing
The MRC WIMM Sequencing facility provides sequencing services to all members of the Institute. We offer the following services: Next Generation Sequencing; Sanger DNA Sequencing; HLA Typing.
For general enquiries contact: timothy.rostron@imm.ox.ac.uk
Genome Engineering & Transgenics
We assist researchers in experimental planning and assembly of reagents for the generation of tailor-made experimental model systems. We are highly experienced in the generation of engineered immortalized cell lines, primary cells and stem cells of different origins, and provide a service platform for the generation of transgenic models.

Mass Cytometry
Mass Cytometry is a technology combining high-throughput single cell analysis with the accuracy of elemental mass spectrometry. The technology is offered in two modes: suspension and imaging. The Mass Cytometry Facility is equipped with a 3rd generation Helios Mass Cytometer and a Hyperion Imaging System.
