Ali Kay

Postdoctoral Researcher

Ali is a researcher investigating perspectives and experiences of genetic and genomic testing, risk assessment and genetic therapies. She is also a Research Fellow in the Centre for Personalised Medicine (JRF, St. Anne's College) and a graduate member of the Association of Genetic Nurses and Counsellors (AGNC) and British Psychological Society (BPS).

Current and recent projects:

  • CureHeart - genetic therapies for inherited heart conditions
  • ePREGCARE - genomic recurrence risk assessment strategy for couples after a child is diagnosed with a genetic condition caused by a de novo (new) genetic variant
  • Adoptees and Direct-to-Consumer testing

Ali's DPhil was sponsored by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and a Nuffield College Studentship. Since this time, she has worked in research, teaching and as an engagement director in a patient support organisation. In this capacity she completed the EURORDIS - Rare Diseases 'Medicines R&D summer school' on clinical trials. In addition to her publications in genetics/genomics, Ali also has publications in business history and is an elected fellow of The Royal Historical Society.
