Vy Wien Lai

DPhil Student

I am a DPhil student jointly supervised by the Antanaviciute and Simmons labs. My research focuses on characterising intestinal dysfunction in premature infants with necrotising enterocolitis (NEC). I primarily use spatial transcriptomics to map cellular organisation and spatial interactions within the gut, with the aim of uncovering the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving NEC susceptibility and pathogenesis.

Prior to my DPhil, I worked as a research assistant at a world leading mouse genetics lab at the University of Cambridge, where I contributed to research that supported the formation of the biotech spinout T-Therapeutics, where I subsequently joined as an associate to establish its genome engineering platform.

I previously trained at Imperial College London, earning both my undergraduate (BSc Medical Biosciences) and master's (MSc Genes Drugs and Stem Cells) degrees.
