Biomarker Specialist

Therapy Acceleration Laboratory (TAL)

I joined the Therapy Acceleration Laboratory (TAL) team as a Biomarker Specialist in August 2023. My role involves working in the various sections of the laboratory and perform a wide range of specialist technical investigations like Biobanking, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Flow Cytometry. My previous experience includes nucleic acid extractions, quantitation and preparation of NGS libraries. The exciting part of my job at the TAL is working with the different sequencing machines as well as other analysers and automated liquid handlers.

Besides my background in molecular biology techniques, I have prior experience in using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Quality Management System. Before joining the TAL, I worked as an Assistant Genetic Technologist in the NHS Genetic Lab at the Churchill hospital and as a Lab Assistant at the NHS Molecular Haematology lab in the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford. I have a BSc Hons in Biomedical sciences (2018) and a MSc Hons in Medical Genetics and Genomics (2019) from the Oxford Brookes University. At the TAL we provide complex genetic and phenotypic analysis of human patient samples from precision medicine national and international clinical trials with the use of state-of-the-art technologies and automated techniques.
