Kinam Gupta

DPhil Student

I am a DPhil student in the Higgs lab. My research focuses on understanding the role of ATRX in gene regulation. I work on two disease models, ATR-X syndrome and Alpha-thalassemia with Myelodysplasia (ATMDS), to investigate how mutations in ATRX lead to downregulation of alpha-globin expression. My research combines a range of epigenetic approaches and advanced microscopy techniques to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying these disorders.

EDUCATION

I completed a B.Tech in Biotechnology at Jaypee University of Information Technology, India, followed by an M.Sc. in Molecular Biosciences with a major in Cancer Biology at Heidelberg University, Germany. I was subsequently awarded the Clarendon Scholarship in conjunction with the SKP Scholarship and the RDM Studentship to pursue my DPhil studies in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford.
