Jan Rehwinkel has been named as the recipient of a Wellcome Trust New Investigator Award.
These awards are aimed at providing funding for scientists who have an excellent track record and are in an established academic post. Jan was given the award on the strength of his research programme focused on furthering understanding of cytosolic DNA detection by the host immune system. Cytosolic detection is of particular importance not only during bacterial and viral infections, but also in autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases and DNA vaccination.
