Sir Walter Bodmer’s 80th Birthday celebration was held at Hertford College on the evening of the 5th of May. Over 100 of Walter’s closest friends and colleagues enjoyed a champagne reception in the principals’ lodgings, followed by a four-course dinner in the main hall. During the course of the evening, several guests including Sir Nick Wright, Professors Ian Tomlinson, Veronica van Heyningen, John Trowsdale and Ellen Solomon shared anecdotes and some slides from the past. A large birthday cake and photo-book signed by all the guests was presented to Walter towards the end of the evening.
The celebration was organised by Walter’s lab members and Hertford College, with additional support from the WIMM and the Department of Oncology.
