Joana Silva
Biomarker Manager
- Therapy Acceleration Laboratory
As a Biomarker Manager, my key roles are as the Flow Cytometry Lead and Training Officer. My responsibilities include the design and implementation of different Flow cytometry assays, training and to ensure the service is ISO 17025:2017 compliant. As the Training Officer I’m responsible for the design of training documents and training plans, in collaboration with the section leads, to ensure the high quality and efficiency of training within the laboratory.
As a Biomedical Scientist working in hospital clinical laboratories I have vast experience in the different areas of Blood Sciences, training and supervision and the ISO accreditation process. To pursue my profound interest in white cells disorders, in 2019, I moved to Oxford, to work as a Senior Biomedical Scientist at the Morphology and Immunophenotyping section at the OUH (Oxford University Hospitals), aiming to specialize in the diagnosis and monitoring of haematological malignancies by flow cytometry.
I’m currently in the last year MSc in Healthcare Management and this has allowed me to acquired more knowledge in Quality Management, Clinical data interpretation, Healthcare Law and Ethics and Managing Learning and Development.
