Senior Laboratory Manager

I am the Senior Laboratory Manager in the new state-of-the art Therapy Acceleration Laboratory (TAL) within the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine.  I lead the laboratory team and manage the day-to-day operational requirements of the TAL, including planning, organising, procurement and managing resources.  I oversee the Quality and Health & Safety objectives of the laboratory to ensure compliance to ISO 17025:2017, HTA, GCLP and HSE standards and regulations.

Additionally, I am responsible for the operational budgets for the laboratory as well as the recruitment of my experienced team, managing their training and development needs and goals.

My previous experience included most recently as the Lead Biomedical Scientist managing a large team of Senior Biomedical Scientists in the first high-throughput COVID-19 Lighthouse laboratory at Milton Keynes and was responsible for the laboratory obtaining the UKAS ISO 15189 accreditation.

Prior to that, I have over 20 years’ experience in large diagnostic NHS Pathology laboratory environments as a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist, with professional exposure in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Health Services Laboratories (Euston) and Hospital of Tropical Diseases.

I am qualified with MSc in Medical Microbiology and IBMS Specialist Diploma.
