I am a DPhil student in Nerlov lab since April 2017. My work explores human haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) heterogeneity in adult BM with the aim of identifying gene signatures and surface markers that could allow identifying human HSC subsets with specific haematopoietic fate-restriction.
The human HSCs is the basis for the most common stem cell-based therapy in clinical practice, namely bone marrow transplantation. Improved understanding of human adult HSC biology will contribute to the treatment of both congenital and acquired blood disorders. In particular, better definition of human HSCs will facilitate efforts to genome edit human HSCs in congenital blood disorders, and improve donor selection for bone marrow transplantation.
